Human civilization has come a long way. From being hunter- gatherers to developing artificial intelligence, everything has been invented by human intelligence. Advance computing has led to the development of artificial intelligence, which has given computers to the ability to generate information for helping us. AI has helped millions of people, but will get so advanced that there is mass unemployment all over the world?

There would be a significant impact on the world if AI reaches a highly advanced stage. It would have a positive impact on the everyday quality of life as it would become much more efficient and better. With AI executing all the tasks, humans would have much more time to spend on their own or with their families. On the other hand, there could be disruption in the field of economy i.e. economic inequality, job displacement and a lot more.

As Ai advances, it would take over many jobs, but they would be mainly of two types- automation and augmentation. Simple, everyday routine tasks like data entries in retail, financial and healthcare places, and solving basic customer requirements.

As we know, the immense evolving of AI would result in it dominating jobs. At the same time, there is also a possibility of it creating new jobs for us. There will be a rising need for scientists to keep developing and maintaining these systems. This might result in the rise of jobs which require humans and AI to work together. For instance- AI can assist doctors in healthcare services by diagnosing the patients’ diseases, fractures etc. Chatbots can handle customer requirements in shopping marts and also handle the data entries to be made.

There are still many occupations which are safe from being controlled by AI. Some of them are creative professions such as writers, painters, artists, musicians and journalists, personal services like hairdressers and coaches. One of the main fields it can’t take over is education, as it is not just about learning, but also inspiring and nurturing young children.

AI will also have a big effect on government and politics. It will be able to predict the status of economy and social issues. It will be able to analyze huge amounts of data which might help the government in making political decisions. AI will also be able to identify the needs of people and aid the  government win the elections on the basis of such types of data. It will also enhance and upgrade cybersecurity by detecting and preventing cyber threats or cyber thefts. It can analyze crime reports to identify patterns of crimes or robberies, in order to help agencies to solve cases more efficiently and prevent illegal acts.

AI is a boon and a curse, both at the same time. It has caused many issues and unemployment all over the world. The deepfake videos or images it has created has misled many people. But at the same time it is also a blessing. It has led to unparalleled productivity and has enhanced the overall quality of life. In the future, it might help the government solve political issues and prevent crime in many ways. It would also help doctors to treat patients and attend to customer services using chatbots. Even if it does help us so much, it is still better to prevent AI from advancing at an extreme rate, for it might become the cause of our very own destruction. I would like to end with a very famous quote said by a Dutch philosopher Desiderius Erasmus- ‘prevention is better than cure’.
