Tethers of Light - My Childhood Home
(Pentastich)

My childhood home still calls, where my heart lies,
Upon the hill, where cool winds sigh,
stood my home beneath the sky.
A Mahua tree, so grand, so free,
whispered tales to my sister and me.

The backyard stretched, beautiful and wide,
My childhood home still calls where my heart lies,
Mangoes, guavas, jamuns, the garden’s delight,
An iron swing planted firm and tight,
Taking usto new heights ateach ride.

Mornings woken to school-bound feet,
Father at work, mother goes busy keeping our home neat,
My childhood home still calls where my heart lies.
From watering the plants, washing with care,
love in my mother’s hands, warmth everywhere.

Evenings glow upon the study table with bright light,
By 9 PM, TV news and tales at night.
Sundays, lunch with joy so true,
My childhood home still calls where my heart lies,
Memories stitched in flavours we knew.

Now silence whispers through the past,
their voices have faded but love holds me fast.
They belong to the stars adorning heavens,
Often on lonely nights, whenever I close my eyes,
My childhood home still calls where my heart lies.
